MADE - Circuito Lombardo Musei Design wants to develop a multi-channel project

The decision was made to consider the 28 Realities of the Circuit as veritable “project places” always available for those who decide to invest time and effort into an actual research activity. Concerning the graphic-formal declination of the Circuit, the decision was made to focus on “simplification” as an analysis tool, starting from objects and projects to find partial but thoughtful answers.

The Brand Identity

The construction grids represent the core modules from which the logo and its 28 associated symbols were designed and modulated. The logo is composed of Semicircle, the symbol of perfection, representing the Circuit and of the position of each reality on the map, all inserted in a square, perfect expression of construction grids built on the lowest common denominator of his projects: the pixel.

The pixel connects the material printed universe (the notebook) and the digital universe (the app). It was also suggested to update the naming of Circuit by playing with the word MADE, which, if combined with different prepositions (“in”, “of”, “by”, “with”..) highlights the multiple aspects of such a complex project.

The Website

Given the ever-growing nature of the Circuit, special consideration was given to the project’s digital component and its ability to respond effectively to the need for continuous information updates. The website seemed the most adeguate and sustainable tool to promote the renewed identity. while the app was intended to support community members and associates in sharing knowledge and memories. Moreover, the website offers the possibility to join MADE and subscribe to the newsletter to remain up-to-date on events, seminars, workshops and overall news design-related.

The App

The idea is to use our smartphones in a more constructive way, using an App full of multimedia content such as podcasts, photographs and video. The App accompanies users through the itinerary, guiding and stimulating them through different sensory channels.

The project as a whole to connect “project’s houses” and “people houses” thought the pages of travel notebooks, drawing in the archives, experimentation of objects but also through city streets, premises and the surrounding areas, which offer the occasion to gather collective memories and to look up at the anonymous design objects that live there.

The Moleskine

The idea of creating a sketchbook in partnership with Moleskine starts from a basic human need: to narrate in order to understand and not forget. Thanks to the contribution of students and professionals of various kinds, the view of the world of Lombard design is broadened. Sketches, images and texts create a veritable object-book, composed of empathetic and personal representations of objects and places, as a key to long-term memory. The notebook is thus seen as a means, a limit, and the origin of a true design thinking projects, Therefore, the digital transposition of the notebook is not perceived as a limitation, but rather as a complement to the classic paper notebook, which Made proposes always in collaboration with Moleskine, in stores and in archives/museums. Lastly, the smart writing set is proposed as a support tool for the project’s didactics. It’s versatile, adaptable, long-lasting and it can shared among users, running like a red through different people, places, periods and cultures.

Workshop

Each MADE Design thinking workshop begin with a training and discussion on the theories and stories concerning the application od design thinking to everlasting objects that have become authentic design icons. Each session is structured around the following key points: — Listening to stories and experience of the 28 reality actors — Training in small working groups supervised by project teachers — Translation of initial ideas as sketches, free associations, photos — Creation of 28 (or more) graphic symbols based on modulation grids drawn from 28 objects selected receive their project in all its various stages, from sketch to final graphic from and video, which will be projected in partner urban/academic/museal contexts.
